. >>> another case we're following former dc council chairman kwame brown will be sentenced in court later today. bank fraud and campaign finance charges. separate sentences for both. melanie is live this morning with details. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. all of this is going to play out in two separate court houses because he's facing charges in two different jurisdictions. one, the bank fraud charges is a federal case and the other is a campaign finance charge. suggesting in the bank fraud case a 6 day jail term. but could be much longer in the campaign violation case, that second case. brown was a rising political star. instead he had a high profile fall after pleading guilty in june to the bank fraud charges. in addition to falsifying information on bank loan applications, he also forged signatures. the second case is related to audit that was done by the dc office of campaign financing. that audit found 2008 re-election campaign failed to report more than $400,000 in expenditures and $239,000 wound up in the hands of a consulting company. prosecutors did say brown deserves some

morning, everybody. good to be with you. i'm terrell brown. this morning, one of america's highest ranking military leaders has been caught up in the investigation that led to the resignation of cia director david petraeus. general john allen is the top u.s. commander in afghanistan. allen is under investigation by the pentagon for alleged inappropriate communications with jill kelly. she's the tampa, florida, woman, who is said to have received threatening e-mails from petraeus's mistress. a pentagon official says allen and kelly exchanged up to 30,000 communications between 2010 and 2012. it's unclear if they were involved in sexual matters or classified information. allen will remain the u.s. commander in afghanistan for now. but these latest developments only serve to widen the scandal that has gripped the nation's capital since friday. tara mergener is in washington with more. what's the latest there? >> reporter: good morning to you. that's right. another twist in this drama. defense secretary leon panetta ordered a pentagon investigation on monday involving one of the u.s. military'

in ohio, senator brown and josh mandel, and i asked senator brown point blank could he support raising the eligibility age on social security medicare and he said no. that's just not going to happen. this was a guy who just won in a swing state. how many senate democrats are in that position? we know where the president is willing to go here and it's a lot further. >> no doubt about it and some of this, as brad mentioned earlier was discussed during the debt limit negotiations last year. how many senators would be with senator brown? probably ten. the rest would have to be kicking and screaming. i think everyone understands that some of these issues have to be addressed as part of a larger agreement. you mentioned speaker boehner, the other thing to watch out for is the fact senator mcconnell, normally a kaubs, very cautious politician by nature will look over his shoulder to make sure he doesn't face a tea party challenge. all of that together, i think, makes it a toxic atmosphere and something we will have to all watch carefully. >> now you -- do you believe that the president is giv
